Statistical Observation of Carbon Monooxide Poisoning


Abstract
Author intend to report statistically the 9 cases of CO poisoning sequellae which have developed 1 W. to 5 W. after the episodes of acute intoxication, as follows:
1. All cases were male and those ages were ranged from 43 to 61, only one ambulatory case were 14 years of age.
2. Among 9 cases 5 cases may be died.
3. Duration of coma in acute tage were ranged from 4.5 hrs, to 4 days.
4. Common initial symptoms in those sequellae were impairment of orientation and memory, incontinentia, gait disturbance and involuntary movement etc.
5. Main general symptoms were heddache, heavy sensation, apathetic and face expression " showed gene-rally poor expressive.
6. Pyramidal symptoms such as motor paralysis, gait disturbance, disarthria etc, and diminition or loss of abdominal skin reflex, Pathological reflexes were observed.
7. Extrapyramidal symptoms; Diskinesia tremor athetoid-choreic movements, muscle twitching etc and muscle rigidity, and appearance of parkinsonism were observed
8. General symptoms; Disturbances of sensory, incontinentia urinae et alba were observed.
9. Mental symptoms; Impairment of consciousness comprehension, orientation, memory etc and fabrication, apathetic appearance, poor rapport were observed.
These symptoms indicate brain syndrome and hallucination, delusion were rarely seen.
10. Etiologically unknown high fever seems to be indicated serious prognosis.
11. It needed long duration, that is, 1 month to 3 months to recover from sequellae of CO poisoning.
